The Polish Technician will polish and measure Silicon and Germanium flat and spherical curve optics. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who possesses a sense of urgency, can deliver consistent achievement of quality standards, and has technical problem-solving skills.

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • 5+ years of experience in precision IR (preferably with Silicon and Germanium) optical polishing including double side polishers, and continuous polishers. Single side polishers (sticks/conventional polishing), and CNC polishing is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with test equipment including and not limited to: interferometer, auto collimator, digital indicators, spherometers, optical profilometer, visual comparators, Scratch Dig machine
  • Demonstrate best practices of handling, fabricating, cleaning, inspecting and testing of optics.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand part descriptions and technical specifications. Estimate polishing production times and related costs to provide information for sales quotations and management decisions.
  • Work with engineering to evaluate, develop and improve manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of customer specifications, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities and quality control standards.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to quickly develop organizational relationships based on technical expertise
  • An innate desire for continuous improvement by recommending and implementing new procedures, processes or fixtures
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
